Magic in the modern world, not on the pages of books? It exists among dark forests, where fairies still choose one sister among people. And people from all over the country come to them for answers to important questions. In these forests, there have long been rumors about vampire-werewolves, and here they call them by a worrying name—vukodlak. Hard to believe, but in the 21st century people are afraid of a werewolf and rush to the cemetery to hammer a stake into a vampire. Even the mayor issues an order—for everyone to nail garlic to their doors—and the seer announces: a vukodlak has arrived! The village calms down by night, the blue mountains darken, the forest grumbles discontentedly. And nearby, a wolf’s howl sounds… Absurd, thinks Alexandra—until she ends up in the mountains on the border of Montenegro and Serbia, and in the best company. Evil in our world is made by people, not monsters from fairy tales: it has to be understood, prejudices dispelled, and the murderer found. And there’s also a chance to eat some savage delicacies—oh, how savage they are! But is it really that simple? Maybe a piece of ancient magic really has survived among dense forests and black mountains.
