Pirate, Seek!

The book “Pirate, Find Me!” by Vasily Velikanov found a voice thanks to Yegor Serov, the chief editor of the radio station “Book,” host of the column “Book Review with Yegor Serov” in the program “Russia in the Morning” on the TV channel “Russia 1,” an honorary academician of the Russian Academy of Radio.

The author of this book is veterinarian doctor Vasily Dmitrievich Velikanov (1906–1985). From the first days of the Great Patriotic War, he was called up to the front—into the veterinary infirmary—because in the fight against fascism, animals helped people a great deal. You will read stories about horses that served in cavalry and supply trains; about dogs—sappers, signalmen, mail carriers, and bombers; and even about camels that met Victory in Berlin.
