The Banshee's Call

Stepan finds himself in a world where technology and magic are intertwined; life is sustained by death, and the local rulers are only a façade hiding the true master.

Interstellar ships and voyages upon them. High-tech civilizations and magic—everything has mixed together in this strange and wondrous world, where a dead sun shines and life is sustained by the energy of darkness and death. Stepan encounters very unusual inhabitants of this realm: people who simply could not exist in ordinary reality. And among them, he finds new friends. But along with them come powerful enemies—those whom the locals consider the lords of this world. Only it turns out that all of this is a cleverly crafted disguise. And now our hero is trying to find out who stands behind the mighty heralds and their merciless rulers. Because it is this secret that may open for him the doors leading beyond yet another trap he has found himself in—the dangerous and unreal Dark World.
