“The Golden Bough” by the well-known English scholar of religion and ethnologist James Frazer (1854–1941) belongs to the category of fundamental studies that remain valuable for many generations of scientists. Having devoted his life to the study of folklore and the history of religion, J. Frazer assembled an enormous amount of factual material, which, through the comparative-historical method, allowed him to show the link between modern religions and primitive beliefs, identify the earthly origins of religious worldview.
