In a raw, rainy autumn, fate brings together two residents of one suburban settlement near Moscow—people who almost certainly would never have met if not for a chance on a railway platform.
One is an old man who has lived a long life and is now at the end of it. The other is a middle-aged man who has recently bought a house here and is going through a divorce. At first glance, nothing connects them except loneliness—but each carries it in their own way.
There’s a thought: when it’s especially hard, try to support someone else. The man chooses exactly that path—and without even noticing, sets changes in motion that reflect both in his life and in the old man’s inner world.
A long autumn drags on, and everyone waits for the first snow—as if cleansing touch of winter air. But these two will have to go through their own autumn first—the one that arrives in life.
