Cruel Justice

Moscow operatives Lev Gurov and Stanislav Kryachko are urgently sent on another assignment. In the provincial town of Sudakovo, the head of the local administration, Zakharukhin, is murdered. The killer seems to have left no traces—local detectives are at a complete loss, and all hope rests on the famous staff of the Moscow Criminal Investigation Directorate (MUR). While investigating, Gurov discovers that for an entire year someone has been systematically—and very professionally—eliminating the local criminal underworld. Since Zakharukhin was closely connected to it, Gurov concludes that all these murders are linked. But the psychological portrait of the killer turns out to be extremely strange…
