“Iron, Rusty Iron” is a gripping family saga from the lives of several generations of a strange Welsh-Russian “clan” against the backdrop of European history of the crazy 20th century. Fate throws the heroes both onto a sinking “Titanic” and into revolutionary Petrograd, into the bloody whirlwind of the Second World War, and then into post-war Leningrad. The author sometimes reaches back into a distant past—the “good old days” of King Arthur, whose legendary sword in an incomprehensible way takes one of the chief heroes of the book from Soviet Russia to Wales.
