Rage

Eseniya is my little sister’s best friend, but I remembered her as a girl who almost drowned in a creek. Risking my own life, I saved Senya—but instead of gratitude, I got disgust. A lot of water has passed since then, and now I’m returning to my hometown for my best friend’s wedding. I find out that he’s marrying that very girl from the past—only now Senya has turned from a nasty duckling into a beautiful young woman.

I should be happy for my friend and his bride, but I notice that behind Eseniya’s happy face there are trembling lips and eyes full of fear. What happened to you, Eseniya? And what am I supposed to do? Play the rescuer again, or walk away and let them figure it out on their own? A choice that depends on far too much.
