Peter Cheyney’s novel “Get Me Right” is about a case handled by FBI agent Lemmy Kouschen. A powerful Pittsburgh tycoon nicknamed the “Steel King” has his son vanish without a trace. Soon it becomes clear that this isn’t another prank of a spoiled heir—it’s a kidnapping—with unusual circumstances: the kidnappers don’t ask for a ransom and don’t contact anyone.
At the same time, another commotion is brewing in the family: the daughter, head over heels in love, becomes involved with a Russian count—a striking handsome man and a “real colonel”—and flies off to Paris with him. At first glance, everything looks like a family scandal, but it’s 1940 outside, and the “Steel King” supplies weapons to England—so personal drama begins to intertwine with far more dangerous events.
