Wolves and Sheep

Wolves and Sheep

2 hrs. 53 min.
Description
A countess, Meropeia Murzavetskaya, wants to marry off her spendthrift nephew Apollo to the wealthy widow Evlampiya Kupavina and get her fortune for herself. She uses spells, fake letters, and counterfeit promissory notes. The unfortunate “lamb” Kupavina will soon end up in Murzavetskaya’s “clutches”… But then appears an even more dangerous “wolf,” who “swallows” both the countess and the widow—and the entire provincial little town.

Ostrovsky’s comedy written in the previous century is more than relevant today. In every era, some people are destined to be as guileless and gentle as lambs, while others are crafty and treacherous like wolves. Besides, even a seasoned wolf can be fooled—at any moment they can switch places…
