The War of the Worlds

Probably, for as long as humanity has existed, people have dreamed of meeting an extraterrestrial civilization—aliens. Most often, our imagination conjures up benevolent beings endowed with far greater intelligence than ours, who will give us new knowledge, teach us new technologies—basically, make our lives better and more comfortable. But another scenario is entirely possible, like the one described in Herbert Wells’s novel “The War of the Worlds.” When not-so-friendly alien creatures landed near London—hostile, hate-filled Martians whose goal is to destroy all living things on our planet.
