War or Peace

By correcting known mistakes of history, are we not creating new ones? Won’t a Third World War begin in an alternative world already in 1950—because the conflict escalates not in the Korean War (which doesn’t exist in this story), but in the Chinese War, in which both the USSR and the USA interfere while supporting Mao and Chiang Kai-shek? Or will it eventually turn out to be “a world better than the previous one”?
