There is no time now to think about how this could have happened. Events are changing too quickly.
Alexander survives day by day. And the thirst for life is still too strong to wonder what the point of it all is. He is no optimist believing in a swift resolution of all conflicts. But he is not especially prone to pessimism either. In Chernorus everyone has forgotten about merriment and joy, about simple human happiness — having a home and a family.
And on top of the lawlessness, the infected also roam the world — victims of experiments with new pharmaceutical drugs. Yes, the world has come to look very much like a post-apocalyptic computer game.
But Alexander believes that better times lie ahead…
