Lyubov Fedorovna Voronkova (1906–1976) is a classic of Russian literature, the author of many novels and stories that captivated more than one generation of readers of all ages. Her particular fame came from her historical works, above all books about the life of Alexander the Great: the novels "The Son of Zeus" and "In the Depths of the Ages"—perhaps one of the brightest biographies of the great commander, the destroyer of cities and conqueror of lands who proclaimed himself the son of a god.
The novel "In the Depths of the Ages" tells of Alexander the Great’s grand campaigns and battles, his love for the young princess Roxana, and the birth and fall of a vast Macedonian empire. The novel is accompanied by classic illustrations by the famous Soviet graphic artist Igor Ilyinsky.
