Juán José Miías (1946, Valencia) is a Spanish writer and journalist, a laureate of the “Sesamo,” “Nadal,” and “Primavera” awards, as well as the National Prose Prize “Planeta” (2007). His prose is marked by irony, subtle psychological depth, and perceptiveness—his ability to see events of everyday life in completely unexpected, fantastic perspectives gives Mīlias’s writing a unique individuality and charm.
The novel “In Alphabetical Order” (1999) constructs a fantastic world in which the conventional nature of any orders, laws, and schemes becomes obvious. And the hero refuses to perceive the reality imposed on him, not wanting to lose the ability to think, compare, and draw his own conclusions.
