Description
Presented for your attention is the twenty-fourth novel in the series “Extraordinary Voyages and Adventures” by the great French writer, the founder of science fiction, Jules Verne. The novel tells how the stubborn representative and ardent supporter of Old Turkey, the wealthy Keraban, upon learning that the government had imposed a duty on crossing the Bosporus by caique, flatly refused to pay it. In order to get home, to the left bank of the Bosporus, he is forced to go all the way around the Black Sea. Naturally, in this difficult journey—made even more difficult by the fact that “a true Muslim will never make use of any achievements of technology”—he and his companions are beset by various dangers and troubles. All the more so because the main character absolutely must attend the wedding of his beloved nephew, the date of which is limited by the will of his beloved’s grandmother. The author’s sparkling humor, his detailed descriptions of the terrain through which the heroes travel, and much more await you on the pages of this novel. Especially since the journey passes through the territory of present-day Moldova, Ukraine, and Russia, and even visits unforgettable Odessa for those who have ever been there!!!
