A young man, coming from Baku to visit his friend in a provincial Russian city, ends up in prison as a result of a brawl involving stabbing. After spending four years in prison and being released, he meets a woman, falls in love with her, and decides to marry her and stay in this city. One evening, when he and his wife are coming home by train after spending the day outside the city, a crowd of skinheads—15 to 17-year-old boys—bursts into the almost empty carriage at the next station and start harassing his wife. He fights them, armed with knuckle-dusters and knives. Nine teenagers rush at him; he manages to take down a few, but the leader of the gang, the oldest boy, shoots and delivers a fatal wound.
At the next station—a deserted stop—late in the evening, the skinheads drag away the man's body and his half-alive, terrified wife, rape her, stab her, mock the corpse, and run off. The woman survives and spends several days in the hospital in a coma. Later, regaining consciousness, she asks to have the death of her murdered husband reported to his brother in Baku. The brother of the murdered man is a former paratrooper; a police officer comes to take revenge. A hunt for the skinheads begins.
