The novel’s main character, Alex Rogo, vice president of the UniCo corporation, must, within tight deadlines and with no investments, turn three companies currently in deep losses into profitable businesses. With the help of the Theory of Constraints—an approach that uses logic of cause-and-effect relationships to identify the organization’s key problem—and Thinking Processes, a set of methods that allows one to develop a comprehensive solution, Rogo will have to devise a strategy and launch a process of continuous improvement. He will need to deal with many conflicting situations—both in business and beyond it.
