All her life, Mrs. Heret has collected works of art in her estate, Pointon, and now—after her husband’s death—she must, according to English custom, transfer the estate to her son, Owen. The trouble is that the spineless Owen is under the influence of his fiancée Mona Brickston, who dreams of taking Pointon for herself and forever closing access to Mrs. Heret. And so Mrs. Heret decides to fight for her treasures. The intrigue develops: the knot of the characters’ relationships tightens ever more, and the struggle for Pointon goes with varying success...
