Soviet troops retreat under the pressure of German–fascist forces. On the front there’s a lull—only the “forty-fives” keep firing; the artillery crew is resting. In a single trench, war brought together different people. They are completely unlike one another, and when a critical moment comes, each of them shows their true face.
