The Next Person You Meet in Heaven

Mitch Albom (born 1958) is a popular American author and journalist who also works as a screenwriter and playwright, and hosts radio and television—plus he’s a musician; total worldwide sales of his books exceed 40 million copies. He gained widespread fame with the nonfiction “Tuesdays with Morrie” (1997) and his first novel “The Five People You Meet in Heaven” (2003): both books stayed on The New York Times bestseller list for a long time, were adapted into films, and translated into many languages. The story continues with the novel “The Next Person You Meet in Heaven” (2018).

Fifteen years later, the writer returns to the fate of little Annie—the girl whom the hero of the previous book, an elderly technician and caretaker of an amusement park, Eddie, once pulled from mortal danger, paying with his own life. Growing up, Annie too becomes the victim of a tragic accident, and after crossing the last line, sets off on a heavenly journey: she meets the souls of people from her past and gets a chance to look at what happened differently. And her path ends with an unexpected twist that changes how you perceive everything that was told.
