Writer, theologian, educator, and theatrical and literary critic S. N. Durylin is a vivid and undeservedly forgotten representative of Russian culture in the first half of the 20th century. His stories and tales, revealing to us the world of simple, sincere, “uncomplicated” faith and solid merchant-like everyday life, were published rarely and were almost unknown to a wide circle of readers.
This collection includes various works by Durylin: there is the lyrical and piercing tale “Your Lordship, the Cat,” the touching and sad story “Grandma’s Day,” the epic “Tale of the Invisible City of Kitezh,” and several others.
