Thus We Shall Win!

Thus We Shall Win!

2 hrs. 25 min.
Description
A publicistic drama in 2 parts, based on M. Shatrov’s play about V. I. Lenin.

Staged by Oleg Yefremov, featuring actors of the Moscow Art Theatre of the USSR, re-recorded from 4 Melodiya records. Production of 1982. USSR State Prize, 1983.

The Moscow Art Theatre performance “Thus We Shall Win!” is a synthesis of very different plot, theatrical, and aesthetic layers, in which the director and actors clearly preserve one unity — the unity of the Bolshevik idea, the unity of Lenin’s thought. The playwright loves the exact dates of Lenin’s life — they are like milestones in the life of the country, like Ilyich’s glowing light bulbs remaining lit forever, like the one under the green lampshade that remained burning on the desk in Lenin’s office, though its owner is gone
