Description
"The Page of Love" (1878) is Émile Zola’s eighth novel in the Rougon-Macquart cycle, devoted to members of one family who lived during the Second Empire—the era of Napoleon III’s dictatorship.

One of the least known novels in the series, perhaps because—at least externally—it features no provocative violence like in other works. Still, here you can find an analysis of romantic passion that is not without interest, and above all a very precise depiction—through Jeanne, the daughter of the main character—of the psychological disorders that may develop in a child when they enter puberty. And of course, the laws of heredity are not forgotten: the central theme of the Rougon-Macquart cycle.
