Paths everywhere. Paths penetrate the world—unseen ant trails, footpaths and roads between continents, highways, routes, and hyperlinks in the network. How are these routes formed? Why do some get trampled and remain, while others disappear? What makes us follow a path—or step off it? After walking and studying thousands of variations of different trails, Moore discovered that the answers to the most important questions are hidden in paths themselves—how the world around us was formed, how living organisms first made it onto land, how order emerged from chaos, and, ultimately, how we choose our way through life.
