A Trail by the Black Water

In the summer of 1970, the youth organizer of a shop—Semyon Valikov—dies at a workers’ rest camp near the plant. According to the official version, while he was drunk, he hit his head on a stone and drowned in the river—the police chalk it up to an accident. But his girlfriend, Elvira, doesn’t believe in chance and convinces the investigator from the prosecutor’s office Altufyev to continue the check. For the search for the truth, she recruits a friend: Zhenya, a law student. Soon, two more young people die nearby under strange circumstances. The girls find a clue tying all the deaths together and rush to hand it over to the investigation—without realizing that for this discovery they’ll have to pay far too dearly.
