The Tale of Tsar Saltan

“The Tale of Tsar Saltan” is the last of Rimsky-Korsakov’s relatively “peaceful” fairy-tale operas. The opera uses traditions of folk theater, buffoon play, and the devices of a fairy-tale narration. Its central idea is that art and beauty overcome the difficulties of life and transform the world—embodied in a high-poetic form.
The libretto is intended for vocal soloists in opera theaters, students and teachers of vocal departments, as well as for all lovers of opera.
