Stas managed to visit the root worlds and thwart the schemes of ancient powers, but now he has to stay in the shadows. A chain of events he accidentally set in motion will not only change his own fate, but over time will also echo in the lives of ordinary people on Earth.

He survived, returned home, and managed to see more than he could have imagined: the root and connected worlds, as well as the inhabitants of the Secret City — those very beings about whom only legends have survived on Earth. For thousands of years, they have guarded the junction zone that leads not just to one of the root worlds, but to a nodal point where several root branches converge. Now they are searching for him, and he has only one choice — to hide, dissolving into the boundless expanses of the root worlds.
