A seasoned sorcerer, serving as the head of a local gendarmerie office, is assigned to keep an eye on the otherworldly as part of his duties: he keeps records of witches and prevents small mischief-making evil spirits.

At the beginning of autumn, 1901, the hero receives a task from the capital of the Russian Empire: to discreetly watch one of the troupe’s artists, who is arriving with tours to his quiet provincial town.

However, carrying out the order is complicated by the fact that after the performances begin, in the district strange events start happening—events that seem unrelated, unclear, and even frightening.

Will the gendarme expose the culprit behind all the tragic incidents? Will he manage to sort out the unsolved cases before the expected otherworldly disaster arrives—one that sweeps across the world every year on the night of the autumn equinox?
