Three brothers gathered to say goodbye to their mother find a girl’s body in the apartment—an event that leads to the uncovering of old family secrets.
Even death can be spoiled…
They find a dead girl in a closet who claims that the deceased owner of the apartment was practicing witchcraft, and therefore she cannot finally leave until she passes on her abilities.
This is a story about witches, demons, the dead, and New Year’s celebrations within the family.
On the eve of 1998, three brothers—policeman, criminal, and soldier—meet not to celebrate, but under darker circumstances: in the kitchen next to their mother’s coffin. From that moment begins “The Puppies”—a terrifying family saga. In a Moscow apartment where every object holds memories—from the smell of cheap alcohol to old quarrels—the brothers must spend the night. Their conversations and recollections are filled with a grim atmosphere: violence, indifference, and alcohol dominate. But the domestic drama quickly takes on another scale: in the closet, they find a girl’s body.
This terrible discovery will be the beginning of even more horrifying revelations: the girl is dead, but not quite… And, just like in a scary fairy tale, the dead mother has a condition for the brothers—one that’s difficult both to fulfill and to refuse.
