The Breakup Survival Guide for Teens: How to Handle Strong Emotions, Develop Self-Love and Build Confidence

4 hrs. 19 min.
Description
After a breakup, feelings hit so hard that it seems the old life has ended. At first, everything around you feels strange—people and events don’t touch you, and any impression passes through pain and confusion. Thoughts keep coming back again and again to the same questions with no answers: “How can I live without him/her now?” “What’s wrong with me?” It’s especially difficult when these were your first relationship and you don’t yet have experience of “life after.” Then emptiness appears as if there’s no future.

Over time, different emotions surface—hurt, anger, jealousy, and sometimes guilt. It may seem like you “should have done more,” or that you realized too late that continuing wasn’t worth it. The “why did it turn out like this?” and “what if I had done it differently?” don’t let go. Sometimes you even want to get everything back and rewrite it, but reality doesn’t change—and that makes it even more painful.

Sometimes the only relief is tears. Your body feels drained: you don’t have the strength to move, to think, to take care of yourself. Forgiving—yourself or the other person—feels impossible; doubts fill all the space. Time moves slowly, days become similar to each other, and bitterness feels unbearable.

In those moments it’s easy to feel lost and alone, not knowing where to go next. But many people go through this—you’re not the only one who is hurting so badly right now. Pain after a breakup can be very sharp, but it’s a stage you can live through and pass. This book will help you begin recovery: sort through what you’re experiencing, gently move through difficult feelings, learn to treat yourself more kindly, and gradually regain support. On these pages you can find a path to calm and confidence—because life goes on.

**About the book**
This book is for teenagers experiencing a breakup, especially if it was their first relationship and the feelings were strong and vivid. It’s designed as a clear, supportive guide that helps you deal with emotional pain and step by step return to yourself.

**Part 1. ‘To Feel’**—to take a breath and reduce inner tension a little. Here you learn to notice your emotions and stop blaming yourself for what you feel. Everything that happens inside matters and deserves attentive, caring treatment.

**Part 2. ‘To Heal’**—to understand more deeply why thoughts and feelings are so heavy: where guilt comes from, why the pain is so intense, and why it seems like everything was in vain. The answers help you see the situation more clearly and begin treating yourself with greater respect and care.

**Part 3. ‘To Shine’**—to hear your real voice: not the one that repeats “I’m not good enough,” but the one that knows how to support you and offer hope. Here you’ll learn how to build life after a breakup not out of fear, but out of love for yourself; how to gradually become the person you want to be—free, confident, and grounded.

Throughout the book, you’ll find short stories, exercises, reflection questions, and gentle therapeutic practices whose effectiveness has been supported by research.

**Why you should read it**
Breakups often feel like a catastrophe—especially when it’s your first love, tied to dreams and plans. Everything reminds you of the past, each day is hard, and inside you’re filled with anger, guilt, and endless attempts to understand where things went wrong. This book helps you get through the breakup without breaking: recognize your feelings, care for yourself, understand your reactions, and find the strength to move on. It provides support when it feels like the ground is slipping away, and helps you feel alive, valuable, and capable of loving again.

**Who this book is for**
It’s for you if:
— after the breakup it has become hard to breathe, eat, sleep, and feel joy;
— inside you mix hurt, shame, jealousy, anxiety, and guilt;
— it seems like nobody understands you, and talking about it feels awkward or scary;
— you keep returning to the past in your mind, replaying conversations and searching for where everything broke;
— it’s unclear how to build relationships further and whether you can trust again;
— you want to understand yourself, recover, and regain confidence.

**Why we decided to publish it**
This book appeared because teen breakups are experienced especially sharply: it feels like the world is falling apart, and all that lies ahead is emptiness. In those moments it’s hard to find a way out on your own, so it’s important to have support written in simple, understandable language. The book collects stories of teenagers with similar experiences—so you can see that you’re not alone. Yes, it hurts right now, but life continues. We want this edition to become a source of support and strength: it will help you recover, learn how to take care of yourself, and trust the future again.
