London, March 1923. Daisy Delrimпle, a charming twenty-five-year-old with blue eyes and a fashionable bob haircut, enjoys Verdi’s “Requiem” in the company of the senior inspector from Scotland Yard, Alec Fletcher. The mezzo-soprano part in the opera is performed by Bettina Westley, the sister of Daisy’s neighbor, Miss Muriel. But the concert ends tragically: at the beginning of the second act, the opera diva falls dead right on stage…
