Hugh Lofting is an English children’s writer, whose pen produced a whole series of stories about the adventures of “the animal doctor” Doolittle. This very hero became the prototype of Dr. Aibolit, known to us since childhood thanks to Korney Chukovsky. The author took part in World War I and wrote his first stories in letters to family and loved ones, to encourage them in difficult hours. After the war ended, he compiled and published them as a separate book—one that children loved and that was repeatedly adapted into films.
Dr. Doolittle loves animals so much that he learned to understand their language. Together with the boy Tommy, he sets off on a faraway journey. Along the way, they face exciting adventures and, of course, dangers. Let’s experience them together with the audiobook’s heroes! Stanislav Vostokov translated this story into Russian—a popular children’s writer and a great lover of animals.
