In a small settlement Izluki, a woman from St. Petersburg named Katya Ilyinskaya tries to pull herself together after her mother’s death. But the peace here turns out to be deceptive: suddenly eight-year-old Liza disappears without a trace. The search drags Katya—an ordinary schoolteacher—into a dark story where old resentments demand payment, and behind the visible friendliness of the neighbors hide lies, envy, and greed. Unintentionally, Katya becomes a key participant in a dangerous game: each new clue brings her closer to the truth and at the same time puts her life in mortal danger.
