Edith Nesbit (1858–1924) is a famous British writer, proseist, and poet, author of many novels; some of them were adapted into films. We present in audio format one of her most popular books—the second in the trilogy of adventure novels about children from the Bastable family. After the death of his wife, the head of the household suffered for a long time and, in the end, found himself on the verge of ruin. But his six children don’t lose heart and decide, by any means necessary, to fix the family’s financial situation. After trying several excellent ideas for raising money, the children decide to go looking for treasures. After all, it’s the most reliable way to quickly obtain the money they need…

In the end, the family is financially helped by their uncle, who came from India, and the children move to live in his house. In the second book, the adventures of the Bastable siblings continue. It’s far from easy for the uncle to get along with such a noisy group, and besides, the children often take his things without asking. Offended, the father threatens to send the children to a closed school. And then—visiting children from the Fulkes family are expected. There’s only one way out: the children, no matter what, must become obedient! And for that, they can even found… a secret society.
