To mark the 175th anniversary of the death of Mikhail Yuryevich Lermontov… The program tells a tragic chain of events that led to the duel and the death of M. Yu. Lermontov at not yet 27 years old. How could it be that, after Pushkin, another great Russian poet left this world so soon? Is it mere coincidence or someone’s malicious intent? To answer these questions, the program’s participants analyze events from the final years of the poet’s life: from the first exile to the Caucasus to the fatal duel, key circumstances of which were revealed only in recent times. Testimonies from Lermontov’s contemporaries will be heard, along with fragments of his letters and poems. The program is hosted by staff of the Lermontov Museum-Estate “Tarkhany,” Elena Rodina and Nadezhda Potapova.
