An account of Faina Ranevskaya’s last theatrical performance in a stage adaptation of Ostrovsky’s play «Truth is good, but happiness is better», directed on the stage of the Mossovet Theatre by Sergey Yursky. The last time the actress appeared on stage was in 1982, after which she left the theatre forever. Left without her beloved work, suffering severely from illness—practically shut away within four walls—Faina Georgievna did not lose her will to live. She read a great deal, and she remained vividly interested in everything happening in the country and in the world. Sergey Yursky recalls this famous and lonely, witty and tender-hearted woman and actress with remarkable warmth and gentleness.
