Port Arthur

The novel “Port Arthur,” one of the best historical novels of Soviet literature, is devoted to the Russo-Japanese War of 1904–1905. Using a vast amount of documentary material and personal observations, the author tells the truth about the heroic multi-month defense of the Port Arthur fortress, artistically and convincingly portraying Russian patriots—the Admiral Makarov, the generals Beliy, Kondratenko, many officers and soldiers.
