Everyone’s own Moscow. My Moscow is the people this crazy and wonderful city brought into my life. They love me and protect me; they join their hands over my head when it rains, lead me along secret paths known only to locals, and they never—outsiders. My book is about a small piece of that other, “arrivals’” life—the one that the residents of big cities may not even suspect. About a very funny and slightly bitter piece of life that helped make me who I am—an arrival and a Muscovite. There is always room for a feat in life. One feat is deciding to emigrate. The second is accepting and loving your new homeland as it is, with all its pluses and minuses. And then it will surely answer you with mutual feelings—absolutely. Because it has not been taught to leave empty hands and hearts when they are offered.
