Polina feels it: something is going wrong around her. And in her teenage years it’s hard to tell what frightens her more—an endless abyss of nightmarish nightmares, or her loved ones, who seem to have forgotten how to listen. The only one who’s truly there is Dunya, a faceless doll. Polina dreams of escaping the invisible cage, but reality won’t let her go. Then she decides that at least one creature should be set free—she releases the parrot from its cage. But everything falls apart when the bird, which turns out to be far from ordinary, carries the girl into its world. There, it’s only a step to a black void and to the hills over which the sky is about to collapse. Luckily, halfway to the abyss, the North Wind catches Polina and carries her to the Magic Valley, where amazing creatures live. Together with the girl, the wind brings a transparent elephant—and with it, a danger that could hang over all the inhabitants of the Valley. What happens if you try to stop time? How do you avoid becoming the dragon’s prey? And how do you find the way home if you don’t know the route—and you’re not even sure you truly want to go back?
