The illegal use of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and their analogues harms health; their illegal circulation is prohibited and entails responsibility under the law. A new novel by a finalist of the “Big Book” prize—an extremely frank look at the path of a person who learns about the world through painful mistakes and sudden insights, like Truman, who understands that he’s inside a show but can’t find a way out.
Pavel Selukov was born in 1986 on the outskirts of Perm. He began writing at thirty; he was supported by Leonid Yuzefovich. The author of “Get Tarkovsky,” the novel “The Notorious Good-Natured” and several collections of short stories; winner of the Kataev Prize and a finalist of the “Big Book.” In the novel “The Border Guard,” Selukov once again amazes with honesty and attention to the inner workings of an individual person: the hero learns to live through attempts and errors, and both often turn into a genuine nightmare—so observing his movement is even more fascinating.
“I was Truman, who knows he’s in a show, but doesn’t know how to get out of it.”
