We owe a great deal to the Age of Enlightenment. It was then that the situation of coexistence of two types of poetry formed: high, serious, official, stately—and the other one that is unprintable, mocking and openly swearing to its heart’s content. And the second one, in a mocking way, parodied the first: it imitated its pathetic tone while at the same time overloading the poetic text with low, abusive vocabulary.
In this collection you will find audio versions of works that until very recently were considered seditious, improper, terrible, and depraved—and yet they belonged to Russian refined literature, without any caveats or conditions. Moreover, these works form a treasury of Russian classical erotic literature.
