There were two of them. Two great Romans. Two outstanding commanders. Caesar and Pompey the Great—who expanded the limits of the state, won many battles, cleared the Mediterranean of pirates, and repelled the threat to Rome in the East.
They were not only allies, but relatives. But… the thirst for power drove them to opposite sides and made them enemies. Rome stood on the brink of a new Civil War.
