Maston Nix, acting as a courier for the Postal Corporation, finds himself on the planet Shelta. Many years ago, a terrible epidemic of an unknown disease broke out here, killing almost the entire population. The few who survived acquired paranormal abilities—they can now feel other people’s emotions, read minds, teleport, and incinerate people with a glance. Their favorite pastime is hunting those who arrive on the planet: first they rob them, and then they implant them with the memories of the native inhabitants.
