Description
"1953. Kilyan and his brother Hakobo leave their hometown of Uesca and travel to the distant, unknown and exotic island of Fernando Po. There they are met by their father, the owner of the Sampaka plantation, where one of the best cocoa in the world is grown and roasted. On these evergreen and warm shores, the brothers discover life in a colony unlike the boring and gray Spain; share the hard work on the plantations; study cultural differences and similarities between newcomers and local residents; and learn friendship, passion, love, and hate. But one of the brothers crosses a forbidden line and becomes hopelessly in love with a native girl. Their love and the complicated relationships between settlers and islanders change the brothers’ relationship and the course of their lives—and become the source of a mystery that will affect even future generations.
