Description
A historical tale about the time of the Tatar invasion—about Prince Alexander Nevsky and a fatherless boy destined to become his physician. Aleksei Yugov, a recognized master of historical prose, speaks about the resilience of the Russian people and the strength of the human spirit.
A work of artistic-historical narration takes the reader to the 13th century, in the years when the Mongol-Tatar raids devastated Rus. In the pages of the book are a wise and far-sighted Prince Alexander Nevsky, the selfless deed of the orphan Grinka, who became the prince’s personal physician, and the courage of people who, from one century to the next, have to repel raids by ruthless invaders…
Aleksei Kuzmich Yugov (1902–1979) was a Soviet and Russian writer, historian, and journalist. Author of the historical novel “Ratobortsy,” translator and compiler of the scholarly commentary to “The Tale of Igor’s Campaign,” and a laureate of the State Prize of the RSFSR named after A. M. Gorky.
For middle and high school age.
