The Unbeatable Armada rises in fury: right at the edge of the city of the dead, heretics set up camp and assemble an airborne fleet, boldly invading the sky that the Church considers its own territory. They break every ban—and perform miracles that, they were taught, are available only to the truly faithful. Inquisitor Drake, worn down by doubts and a crisis of faith, sets out to the rebels in search of an answer and suddenly sees how the familiar church order is coming apart at the seams.

The Unbeatable Armada, in rage—and at the outskirts of the city of the dead, a daring stronghold of rebellion is taking shape. Godless people, criminals, and defectors build aerial ships, challenging the very Church and its rule over the skies. Drake goes to them out of curiosity and desperation, hoping to uncover the truth, but he faces the impossible: sinners work miracles as if it were permitted from on high. And if that’s true, then the Church’s usual war may be not merely difficult—but utterly impossible.
