All kinds of rumors circulated about the old manor house standing on a hill at the edge of town. Some claimed that every full moon, witches gather there for a sabbath—on those nights, the house shakes and creaks, and even from far away you can hear shrieks and shrill laughter of witchy fun, while in the windows flicker multicolored lights from all sorts of spells. Others insisted it had nothing to do with witches—that on full-moon nights, werewolves come to stay overnight in the house. They are the ones who growl and scream, and when they turn from people into wolves, they shriek and roll around on the floor—so that’s why the house shakes, and the colored sparks from their fur light up the cloudy milky glass from inside.

And still another person declared with confidence that the house is inhabited by ghosts—and that was explanation enough: they’re ghosts, so you can expect anything from them…
