The Fire Bridge

Preparing the summer-autumn campaign of 1942, the German command stepped up the dropping of sabotage groups into the Volga region. One of the targets of the Abwehr was the Saratov railway bridge—an important strategic artery connecting the rear with the front. Detect and destroy the dangerous enemy is assigned to a unit led by Major Maksim Shelestov. The operatives manage to track the enemy group preparing an attack on the bridge. But at the last moment it becomes known that it’s only a cover group—the main forces of the enemy can strike the target at any time…
