New Year's Nightmare

Oleg, nicknamed the Soulless, heads the special investigations department, and his beloved, writer Alisa Vertinskaya, who works under the pseudonym Hel, buy a new home on the eve of New Year. But they didn’t even have time to unpack when they were pulled into yet another horrifying investigation.

Alisa’s friend Vika, owner of a glossy magazine, found a corpse on the doorstep of her house. Oleg’s department took over the case. They learned that the murdered woman was Hel’s and Vika’s former classmate.

One unsettling detail came up in the case—the corpse had 20 dollars on it. Alisa remembered that back in university, a scandal happened in their group: one guy insulted a girl by throwing her the same bills as those found on the fallen woman. So a version formed that the roots of the crime might be in Vika’s and Alisa’s past…
